STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS :
Spring Semester 2022

Jessica Jackson Mowery, is student in Columbus State in the post-baccalaureate paralegal program. She has a BFA in Theatre Design from Otterbein College and as work for theaters and libraries before entering the legal field. She currently works as a paralegal and support staff supervisor for the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office in the Civil Division. When not drafting motions or finishing up homework, she enjoys cross-stitching and art projects with her daughter. She has also participated for the past two years with her friends in a video-game streaming fundraiser to support Mid-Ohio Food Bank and Feeding America.

Her work brings her many fulfilling challenges in a variety of fields including litigation, forfeitures, and public records. There is never a dull day working at the Prosecutor’s Office. Continuing her education has provided valuable insights to assist attorneys and proactively plan workflows in the most efficient matter.

Benjamin Keller, is a paralegal student at Capital University Law School, with an anticipated graduation date of August 2022. Ben chose to be a paralegal as a second career but was uncertain in what area of law he wanted to concentrate. After his first semester of classes at Capital, an opportunity arose to become a paralegal in criminal defense. It was then that he knew this could be his calling. He firmly believes that every American deserves the constitutional right to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

He currently works for Yavitch & Palmer, L.P.A., as a paralegal, client care specialist, and case manager. Ben is thankful for the professors who have taught him so much, the classmates who have made the journey an adventure, the colleagues who have welcomed him to the fold, and his family and friends for encouraging him to seek career satisfaction in the field of law.

WHAT WE DO :

We schedule school visits, develop presentations and perform paralegal panel discussions for paralegal students.  We also promote the benefits of being a PACO member with access to employment opportunities, industry trends, paralegal panels, mock interviews, and resume reviews.

• We solicit PACO Members and PACO Student Members to join the committee.
• We hold committee meetings to set goals and develop program(s) for students.
• We determine if a budget is needed, if so submit a proposal to the Board for approval.
• We conduct paralegal panels upon request.
• We solicit PACO members as speakers upon request.

WANT TO ENGAGE A MENTOR?
