PACO Program's Committee has been busy coordinating Legal Insights sessions which are held monthly via Zoom from 12 Noon-1:00 p.m. We are excited to welcome Rebecca Lewis, PACO's President, Teresa Scharf, PACO's NFPA Primary Representative and Christy Zeger to present on the topic of "Paralegal Utilization".

Rebecca M. Lewis, MBA, MPA is a property and casualty Compliance Consulting Manager within the Customer and Regulatory Solutions (CARS) Team at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, Columbus, Ohio. Rebecca leads a team of compliance analysts and specialists and is involved in strategic planning to enable innovative and expansive services from a compliance perspective to the Property & Casualty claims organization in support of 'One Nationwide'.

Rebecca is a results-oriented professional, emphasizing decisive action to deliver strategic objectives and cross-functional coordination with multiple business teams across the Nationwide Enterprise. Rebecca has earned her LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and is recognized for improving and developing efficiencies by streamlining and automating processes while increasing service level agreements (SLAs) and minimizing costs.

Rebecca has her Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) both from the Keller Graduate School of Management. Additionally, she is a graduate from the University of Toledo where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Individualized Studies Program (Cum Laude) and an Associate Degree in Legal Assisting Technology (High Honors).



Teresa Scharf is an OSBA Certified Paralegal with seventeen years of experience as a litigation paralegal and thirty years overall in the legal services profession. She obtained her degree in Paralegal Studies, cum laude, from Columbus State. Since 2009, she has served as Chair of PACO’s Pro Bono Committee, and leads its Pro Bono Wills Clinic program, an award-winning effort that she and her committee launched here at PACO in 2010. She is the immediate past-president of PACO, currently serves as PACO's Primary Representative to the NFPA, and she serves on NFPA’s Pro Bono Committee. Teresa is a member of the OSBA Paralegal Certification Board and Paralegal Committee. She also serves on advisory boards for PACO and for the Paralegal Studies Program at Columbus State. She has been recognized with several awards locally and nationally, including the 2014 Outstanding Pro Bono Support Award from the Legal Aid Society of Columbus, and NFPA’s Individual Pro Bono Award in 2010 and 2019. Teresa is involved in other pro bono activities in addition to the Wills Clinics. She is also an authorized Remote Online Notary.



Christy A. Zeyer is an Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) Certified Paralegal employed at Schraff Thomas Law as a Probate Paralegal. She is an Ohio Notary Public and Authorized Remote Online Notary.

Christy earned a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Notre Dame College of Ohio and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Bowling Green State University. She is an Alumna of Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Psi Chapter.

She has worked as a Paralegal for over twenty-three years, including employment in the states of Florida and Ohio. Before her work as a Paralegal, Christy was a Caseworker/Coordinator for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwestern Ohio and a Deputy Clerk with the Lake County Common Pleas Clerk of Courts.

Christy is a Paralegal Associate Member of the OSBA; and a Paralegal Member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. Christy is a member of the OSBA Paralegal Specialty Board. She is also a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (NFPA).

She previously served as the NFPA Primary and NFPA Secondary for CAP. Christy was active in the Cleveland Association of Paralegals, Inc. (CAP), serving as the Board Advisor (July 2012 - June 2013); CAP President (July 2010 - June 2012); Website Coordinator (2010 - 2016); CAP Secretary/Parliamentarian (August 2009 - June 2010); and CAP Probate Committee Co-Coordinator (2008 - 2010).

Christy is a former member of the Ursuline College Paralegal Alumnae Mentoring Board, South University Paralegal Advisory Board, and Chancellor University Paralegal Advisory Board.

She is currently the Vice President for Willoughby South High School Rebel Families, a non-profit organization that raises money to provide grants for teachers, an annual teacher appreciation luncheon, student scholarships, and a safe after-prom for the students.
