PACO Program's Committee has been busy coordinating General Membership meetings which are held monthly via Zoom during COVID-19, from 12 Noon- 1:00 p.m. We are excited to welcome Sylvia M. Pla-Raith, Director of the Elder Justice Unit – Consumer Protection Section, Ohio Attorney General's Office to speak with us about an overview of Elder Abuse; Mandatory Reporting of Elder Abuse and Combating Elder Financial Exploitation.

Sylvia Pla-Raith has over 30 years of experience working in the interest of older adults and elder Justice. As of November of 2015, she has served as the Director of the Elder Justice Unit and the Lead Staff of the Attorney General’s Elder Abuse Commission. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office, she served as the Chief Supervisor for Adult Protective Services in Cuyahoga County. In addition, Sylvia is a certified adult protective services core trainer for the Ohio Human Services Training System (OHSTS). Sylvia serves as the Chairperson of the Ohio Coalition for Adult Protective Services (OCAPS). Her vast experience includes, hands on elder abuse investigation, training, advocacy and policy development. Over the years, Sylvia has served many collaboratives that have focused on protective services and elder justice through community education, outreach, advocacy, and coalition building. Ms. Pla-Raith holds a Master of Arts degree in Health and Human Services from John Carroll University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The Ohio State University.
