Continuing Legal Education - Lauren Prohaska, Co-Chair

This committee shall help to provide understanding and the solution of problems relating to the work and duties performed by the members of the Association and in the education, counseling and training of said members.

Elections - Katie Essex, Chair

A short term committee assists in the recruitment and election process for the Executive Board.

 

Job Bank - Bridgett Klingbeil, Chair

The committee shall see that information regarding job openings is distributed through publications of the Association and endeavor to make employers and others aware that such service is available.

Ms. Klingbeil is a litigation paralegal in the Vorys Columbus office. She has extensive experience with complex litigation and is experienced in contract litigation, securities litigation, civil and criminal antitrust, Medicaid fraud litigation, trademark and copyright litigation, as well as most other areas of litigation. She is involved in all aspects of litigation from preparing and responding to discovery requests, file management and trial.

Ms. Klingbeil is highly skilled in the use of electronic information management, including the design and usage of database programs, litigation document management software, and trial software. She is also experienced in all aspects of electronic and traditional discovery, including identifying, gathering, analyzing and producing responsive infor
mation.

Ms. Klingbeil completed an extensive in-house training on the recent changes to the Federal Rules regarding electronic discovery and she is a member of Vorys’ Core Group that counsels clients and trains firm members on this electronic discovery issues.

This committee meets periodically to study for the OSBA Paralegal Certification Exam.

Pro Bono - Teresa Scharf, Chair

This committee shall plan and provide for all pro bono activities of the association, includes charitable causes and assisting attorneys.

Teresa Scharf has worked in the legal community since 1997.  She is the Litigation Paralegal for the law firm of Newhouse, Prophater, Letcher & Moots, LLC.  Prior to joining the firm, she worked as the secretary for Attorney Frank A. Ray.  Thereafter she joined another firm and while working full-time, simultaneously attended Columbus State Community College full-time, graduating cum laude with her degree in Paralegal Studies.

Teresa and her husband, Fred, have been happily married for over 30 years and they have two wonderful children, a son who is an officer in the military and a daughter who is a Senior at the Columbus College of Art & Design.

Professional Development - Kathy McGranahan, Chair

This committee shall monitor legislation, and address issues concerning the profession.

Professional Ethics & Standards - Renee Tomko, Chair

Upholds the canons and purposes of PACO. 

 

Program - Amanda S. Coleman, Chair

This committee shall plan and provide the program for all Regular Meetings of the Association.

Amanda S. Coleman, MS, is currently employed as a Senior Research Associate with Stonehenge Capital Company, LLC focusing on investment, tax, market and new venture research.

Prior to Stonehenge, Amanda was a Corporate Paralegal with the international law firm, Jones Day in the practice of mergers & acquisitions. Previous positions include Compliance Officer with JP Morgan Chase in their Investment Advisors group handling SEC regulatory matters, and Contract Manager with American Electric Power in their communications group handling contract negotiations and FAA regulatory issues. Before she entered the corporate legal arena, Amanda spent 7 years in the local court system starting as a Legal Investigator with the Columbus City Prosecutors office in the Franklin County Municipal Court, and ending her government career as a Bailiff to Judge Paul W. Martin of the Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

In June of 2009, Amanda completed a Master's Degree from Franklin University in the area of Communication. Additionally, she is a graduate of Mt. Vernon Nazarene University where she received a Bachelor in Business Administration, and is also a graduate of Columbus State Community College where she received an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies.

In June of 2007, Amanda completed two terms as President of the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio where she spent 3 years on the executive board and was awarded 2007’s “Paralegal of the Year” by the association. Her professional affiliations include:

In her spare time, Amanda is an adjunct faculty member at Columbus State Community College and has been teaching courses such as "Introduction to Paralegal Studies", "Law Office Management & Procedures", and "Sport Law" over the past ten years. In August, 2009, she received a 10 year service credit from Columbus State for her contributions to the college. She is the Co-Faculty Advisor of the Student Paralegal Association which she founded as a student in the program in 1991, and serves as an advisory board member for Columbus State's Justice & Safety Department.

When she's not working or handling professional responsibilities, Amanda can be found most days at the gym with her trainer, or jogging with her husband between long weekends to some of their favorite big cities.
